Abstract:

The California Board of Registered Nursing released a new report on the experiences and plans of RNs pursuing advanced education after licensure. The survey, conducted by UCSF, reveals that more than 36 percent of California’s RNs have completed at least one post-licensure degree, most often a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in nursing. More than half of these nurses had at least some of their coursework online. Nearly 40 percent of RNs are currently considering pursuing additional education, and 13 percent report they are very interested in becoming a nurse practitioner.
